I’ve busted all of the boxes from Blowout Cards’ awesome Black Friday sale as well as a couple of others and am getting ready to post the results. How did I do? Some of the cards were Epix… er, epic. Some were sketchy. There was a Partridge, but it wasn’t in a pear tree. I got a numbered card of a player whose last name still makes my wife giggle. Brains and brothers were pulled. What did I open and what did I pull? Stay tuned to find out.
Tomorrow I hope to have some cool pictures to share. We’re off to Gillette Stadium to have my daughter’s picture taken on the field with Santa. Should be a very cool experience.
Also, anyone out there buy Beckett? I’m looking for the Beckett values for this year’s Finest Baseball redemptions. I just got the e-mail stating that replacements could be requested and I was wondering what Beckett listed these cards for. If the book value is high, maybe it’s worth taking a shot and seeing what I might get as a replacement. I’ll probably be able to get most of the redemption cards for a buck plus shipping anyway.
Whilst getting our Christmas decorations out of storage, I came across my folder of checklists. I’ve been looking for this ever since finding out about Sportlots. Nothing like finishing off some sets from around 15 years ago.
One final note: I’ve bashed them enough concerning this so it is only fair that I give them credit where credit is due. I wrote Upper Deck one more time about the 40 cards I was shorted from my 2009 Baseball Series 1 box and included my new address. The e-mail got bounced back and listed off a bunch of different departments that now have their own e-mails instead of everything going to one customer service address. I wrote to the new address included in the e-mail and got a reply stating that replacement produce was being sent out and will arrive in 1 – 3 weeks. I’ll update once the shipment arrives. Thank you Upper Deck for ending this frustrating exchange.

Thanks Ken. I've got 2, 5, 6 and 10 coming. I'm definitely going to wait on the two Hansons. I think I'll probably wait on Rasmus, but I may take my shot on a replacement for Blanks. I've picked up so many redeemed cards for a dollar on eBay that it might be worth it to see what Topps can break out of the vault as a replacement especially since they'll sometimes fulfill a request such as a player from a certain team if you ask.

I didn't quote you the refractor rookie redemptions (just the normal) but I see those are listed on ebay too, so if you need that shoot me an email. I see there's gold too.
Yeah, while there's no guarantee that they'll be available cheap, past history shows that they probably will be. It's mostly the fault of the card companies. Unless it is something cool like an autographed card, collectors forgot about these cards between the time they are redeemed and they arrive.
There are some great rookies in the 2009 redemptions, but I don't know if Blanks and Rasmus are going to among the top ones.
